Personal trainer

I made it to the gym and through the one hour session. My legs were awfully wobbly after but felt good. Took a bit to get to sleep and got up early without hurting. Even continued a session this morning using my favourite 10-min workout DVD and went through the abs and power stretch sessions. My legs are still a bit sore but not Fibro-sore, just workout sore. I much prefer the workout sore. Knowing that with Fibro, muscles don't repair like normal because of the lack of restorative sleep, I have been looking up a bit on foods that aid in muscle reparation such as protein. It's funny, I have been in shape before and am in better shape at this time of year compared to other years, but the Fibro is forcing me to take even better care of myself.

I enjoyed having a personal trainer. One of the reasons I have shyed away from the gym is lack of knowledge. The time she took to correct little things that my body does on it's own (my body has been self-correcting for so long, I am not sure it even knows what is the proper form). It is also personalized, which I enjoy. The only thing holding me back is the cost. I know paying for a personal trainer is not just paying for the time, but for the knowledge. Looking into some financial stuff to see if I can pull it off. I want to get through one "cycle" with a p.t. to get to knowledge down pat so I can then continue on my own confidently. I am a quick study and hope my body can keep up with me.

I am also looking into meditation CDs and DVDs. Going to make a purchase today of a few new resources, after reading countless reviews. Working out my plan. Nothing solid yet, but I might share it later.

Cheers

Exercise

Soooo I need a plan. A good plan. Started on the supplements with no ill-effects. I have adjusted quantities and times though. So now the big factor: exercise. I have a gym membership and with that I have a personal assessment to take advantage of, which was a good experience. She showed me a plan that is feasible and that takes in account my health issues. We even did a few exercises out in the gym and she pointed out small but important things like that I favour my right in certain exercises, which muscles I should be using, etc. Having that knowledge is beneficial. I am all about having the right knowledge. I think that has been one of the big things that has prevented me from using the gym more than I do: knowledge! Knowledge as in whether I am doing the exercise correctly, am I using the right muscles, should I be doing something differently, which exercises will be best, etc. Unfortunately this knoweldge comes at a cost. Plus, hiring a personal trainer at the gym means hour long sessions. I am unsure if I can pull of an hour long session at the gym. The other part is that I would only like a trainer just for the foundation part of my exercise, so that way I establish good form. I know the pricing I got was based on 36 sessions, I am going to ask if it can be just once a week with the trainer and then the other time I would be on my own. Can't hurt to ask when I go for the free session tomorrow to see how my body handles the hour. I know starting will be slow and steady and that, in a few months, I will be able to pull of an hour just fine. I also have dvds at home and a wonderful puppy to walk. So a plan, yes. However, it is still undecided.

Alternatives

So I have gotten away from the poetic aspect of this blog a bit. But still using it as a outlet; it's still beneficial :)
So I tried a new medication and it did not go over very well at all. Cymbalta is not for me. Going to continue with the Lyrica as it has decreased the frequency and severity of my migraines. So, off I went to find out about alternative treatments because there was no way I was going to go through what I experienced with the Cymbalta again. Finally got to talk with a pharmacist at a specialty herbal medecine pharmacy. He suggested the following:
  • CoQ10
  • Chloressence (Chlorella)
  • Vitamin D3
  • Fish oil
  • Acidophilus
I have been taking the fish oil for over a year and I can attest to the benefits of it. It has significantly reduced my fog and broke me out of my many month long fog last year. I have already been taking Vitamin D and he said to increase it even more. I am currently researching the other treatments and finding some helpful information. It is expensive, but I can't really afford not to try these alternatives. Here's to hoping!
